Barrington Hills Park District

Barrington Hills Park District (BHPD) provides valuable recreational facilities and programs for area residents and others.

The Barrington Hills area has engaged in equestrian activities since the 1920s and has developed and maintained a system of riding trails extending for approximately 116 miles. The Park District was established on July 19, 1967.

Since 1972, the BHPD has owned, managed and maintained the Riding Center at 361 Bateman Road, Barrington Hills. The Riding Center consists of 15 acres located adjacent to the Spring Creek Forest Preserve. Within this forest preserve are a number of cross-country equestrian jumps maintained by the Fox River Valley Pony Club and miles of horse riding trails maintained by the Riding Club of Barrington Hills.

In addition, the BHPD maintains tennis courts, a softball field and basketball courts at Countryside School.
