2019 Year in Review

This was an especially busy and productive year. Thanks to the support and guidance of our residents, the Park District completed an impressive list of projects and held events that we believe added to the enjoyment of those living in our unique village.

  • Donated $20,000 to Countryside School to purchase playground equipment suitable for kids of all physical abilities
  • Continued partnership with Barrington Area Tennis Association to promote youth tennis
  • Facilitated educational programs for youth and adults including the Saddle Club which introduces children to horses and riding
  • Planted many new native trees, shrubs and plants throughout the Riding Center Facility
  • Co-sponsored the “Tartans of the Trust” fundraiser for The Barrington Area Conservation Trust
  • Co-sponsored the “Hills are Alive” community family event
  • Co-sponsored the “Ignite the Night” event to support local conservation
  • Hosted the 2019 FRVPC Mini Event
  • Hosted the 2019 Horse Trials
  • Provided facilities and support for the BraveHearts Veterans’ Trail Ride
  • Hosted two new equestrian shows this summer; a Mini-Horse & Pony Show and a Dressage Schooling Show
  • Completed a wide range of safety, repair, and maintenance projects at the Riding Center including:
    • Installing rocks to beautify and stabilize drainage
    • Purchasing new stadium field jumps
    • Creating a “ditch jump” complex
  • Renovated the small house and garage at 364 Bateman Road which now offers:
    • An additional meeting facility
    • A kitchen for Sunny Sunday’s brunches and other events
    • An equestrian library
    • An area for the Park District Office
    • Storage for Park District equipment
